Have you put off learning more about how to build a basic web page? Do you edit basic web pages, like writing for a blog? Do you hate paying for stuff?
Geoff Stump, an Interactive Designer at Real Art Design Group, will discuss the basics of building and styling a website using HTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), the building blocks of all web pages. This will be a hands-on demo, and guests are welcome to bring in their laptop to follow along.
This will be a "crash course" for beginners who are new to building web pages. If you want to dive into this exciting world for the first time, this meeting will be a great starting point. If you're an experienced coder, there's nothing wrong with a refresher course, but it may be too rudimentary for some. Perhaps taking a look at the project files will help you decide if it's worthwhile.
Details:
Project files will be posted on our Adobe Groups event page: http://groups.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=post.display&postid=20345 |

Looking for something fun to do? Why don't you go fly a kite? No, really -- join your friends at the Dayton Creative Syndicate from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Possum Creek MetroPark for the Go Fly a Kite Regatta. Release your inner child with your fist holding tight to the string of a kite. We'll meet at the Prairie Dock Shelter, which is just down the road from the park's main entrance at 4790 Frytown Road. Learn more about this MetroPark's amenities, or download a map at metroparks.org. Dust off your award-winning kite you assembled in Scouts -- or if your parents aren't hoarders, you can just buy a kite kit on site. Please do not eat the paste, unless you've brought enough to share with the rest of the class.
Other highlights of this event include the "favorite kite contest." The Go Fly a Kite Regatta is free for all to attend. For additional details, contact Tracy Westendorf at

Students and professionals got together last night at the second annual DCS portfolio review. Three Dayton design experts, Jon Brooks, Chris Wire, and Steve Greenblat, spoke about their experience in the industry and answered students' questions.
The students all seemed to be happy with the feedback in the reviews. They also got the chance to join discussion groups with four 2009 graduates. Reka Juhasz, Anthony Wartinger, Tyler Spahr, and Linsey Free all spoke about their experience getting their first jobs. This was Kate Anderson's official event as DCS Education coordinator. Thanks to the speakers, reviewers, and students for making this year's portfolio review a success.
