Since Jon Brooks is taking on the important role of Vice President here at DCS, we asked him to tell us a bit about himself so that our members and friends could get to know him a little better.
Here's the 4-1-1 on J-O-N:
Born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, relocated to Miamisburg in 1988. I currently work as Creative Director for Hafenbrack Marketing, a marketing and advertising agency in downtown Dayton. In addition to overseeing all of the firm's creative output, I get a chance to be very hands-on in design, illustration and art direction. I’ve spent my entire professional career with Hafenbrack and have managed to survive and grow through the many changes our business and Hafenbrack have gone through over the past 23 years. In recent years our team here at Hafenbrack has been fortunate enough to garner awards both locally and nationally, it’s not why we do what we do but it certainly is gratifying to be recognized by your peers in competition with the kind of talent we have in the Dayton area.
I attended SAA from 84-86 during it’s first 2 years of existence, with that foundation plus many years of hard work and determination I’ve been able to make a career doing something that I love. I am a board member and one of the founding parents of a nonprofit group called Roads to Recovery, an organization dedicated to the growth and education of children with Autism, of which my son Alex and our family are afflicted. My biggest achievement thus far is my family, where my job is to be loving husband and father to my wife Melissa and sons Alex and Jacob.
If you have any questions or comments, or you just want to say "Hello," feel free to email Jon Brooks.

DCS and GDAA are again proud to present the 2009 Mercury Awards.
As many of you may remember DCS was awarded the "Newcomer of the Year" award last year and we look forward to our members participating in the nominations for this year's event. So please make your voice heard and reward those who mean so much to what we do.
So what's the big deal about the Mercury Awards? Well we thought we'd inform those who maybe haven't had the opportunity to be involved or are unfamiliar. An awards ceremony named for the Roman god, Mercury who is also know as Hermes—by the Greeks. Mercury, maybe best known for his winged helmet and shoes and as being the messenger for the gods. He is attributed as the god of trades and advertising and so in this spirit we honor those advertising professionals for their commitment to excellence and the work they perform.
